Blame the victim ..

 Environmental degradation? Your fault! When soda factories replaced glass bottles with cans to save billions, the streets and parks were filled with empty non-biodegradable cans. There were no recycling facilities. Coca Cola and suppliers funded "Keep America Beautiful" to promote anti-pollution and anti-trash. They shifted the responsibility to consumers, who soiled, who threw empty cans into the bushes and rivers. They managed to reverse the dynamic of environmentalism from those who sell to those who buy. The costs of reducing the use of plastics and the recycling of cans have long been rejected by manufacturers. Their communication campaigns have hidden the choice of using a cheap but contaminating material and pointed to the behavior of people, who dirty without recycling their waste.

Half a million tons of plastic per year from Coca Cola, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Unilever (in America, ed.), which partially ends up in developing countries- without treatment plants- with innumerable accumulations of buried or burned waste or thrown into the waters. If New York recycles, many American cities lack adequate facilities then landfills often export their  garbage.

Metals and glass can be reused indefinitely, plastic only once or twice with the aggravating circumstance of costing even three times the virgin one and getting lost in the oceans, a cause of suffocation for turtles and fish. Meat, dairy products, fashion (fabrics, animal hides), technological processes hide the effects of their conscious choices with promotional actions as idiotic (small plantings, narcissistic brochures) as misleading, knowing that the legal penalties will be minimal.

The 2017 Carbon Majors study revealed that 100 groups emit 71% of global emissions; but idle environmentalists prefer to blame individual fellow citizens. International food waste is the third largest greenhouse gas player after China and the US. The contamination of water, agricultural land, fodder is much more widespread than is believed, much more lethal than it appears. Poor communities suffer from landfills, inhaled or swallowed toxicities; while the punishments of the guilty are lost in the maze of the economic, political and judicial elites. The goody-goody oilmen blame the community, which uses fossil fuels because the alternatives are absent. China, India, Brazil, Mexico set fire to plastics and waste by increasing carbon dioxide. In Italy the 'Terra dei Fuochi' between Naples and Caserta (38 municipalities from Casandrino to Melito etc) records excess tumors of the liver, bladder, breast and testicles, Hodgkin's lymphoma, asthma, newborn malformations, leukemia caused by metals such as hydrocarbons, PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), dioxins, furans (ISS). The illegal or dangerous disposal of companies (apparently also fashion, shoes, tanning) takes place through the Camorra, a powerful local criminal organization, which buries or sets fire to the open. Greenwashing signals northern Italy and Europe as the principal of imported toxicity. "The air is hot, sticky, smelly, everything exudes unhealthiness and death" says 'Green Italia'.

Degrado ambientale? Colpa vostra!  Quando le fabbriche di soda\acqua gassata sostituirono le bottiglie di vetro con lattine per risparmiare miliardi, le strade e i parchi si riempirono di barattoli vuoti non biodegradabili. Mancavano gli impianti di riciclaggio. Coca Cola e fornitori finanziarono "Keep America Beautiful" per promuovere anti-inquinamento e anti-spazzatura. Spostarono la responsabilità sui consumatori, che sporcavano, che buttavano nei cespugli e nei fiumi i vuoti. Riuscirono a  invertire la dinamica dell'ambientalismo da chi vende a chi compra. I costi per ridurre l'uso delle plastiche e il riciclo dei resi sono stati lungamente rifiutati dai produttori. Le loro campagne di comunicazione hanno nascosto le scelta di ricorrere a un materiale economico ma contaminante e additato il comportamento delle persone, che sporcano senza riciclare i loro rifiuti.

Mezzo milione di tonnellate di plastica all'anno da Coca Cola, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Unilever (in America, ndr.), che finiscono parzialmente nei Paesi in via di sviluppo, privi di impianti di trattamento, con accumuli innumerevoli di scarti sotterrati oppure bruciati o buttati nelle acque. Se a New York si ricicla, molte località americane scarseggiano di strutture adeguate, con la conseguenza che le discariche esportano spesso la spazzatura.

Metalli e vetro possono essere riutilizzati all'infinito, la plastica solo una o due volte con l'aggravante di costare anche il triplo di quella vergine e di perdersi negli oceani, motivo di soffocamento per tartarughe e pesci. Carne, latticini, moda (tessuti, pelli animali), lavorazioni tecnologiche occultano gli effetti delle proprie scelte consapevoli con azioni promozionali tanto idiote (piccole piantature, opuscoli narcisistici) quanto fuorvianti, sapendo che le sanzioni legali saranno minime.

Le comunità povere subiscono le discariche, le tossicità inalate o ingoiate; mentre le punizioni dei colpevoli si smarriscono nei meandri delle elite economiche, politiche, giudiziarie. I petrolieri imputano farisaicamente la collettività, che ricorre ai combustibili fossili,essendo assenti le alternative. Lo smaltimento illecito o pericoloso delle aziende (pare anche moda, scarpe, concia) avviene tramite la camorra, potente organizzazione criminale locale, che interra o dà fuoco all'aperto. Il greenwashing segnala il nord italiano ed europeo quale mandante della tossicità importata. "L'aria è calda, appiccicosa, maleodorante, tutto trasuda insalubrità e morte" racconta 'Green Italia'.
