Emergenza PFAS in Veneto, per ora. Il governo uscente ha nominato un commissario, dichiarando lo stato di crisi, così accogliendo 6 mesi dopo l'appello del presidente regionale Zaia. Queste sostanze sono usate dappertutto sin dagli anni '40. Sono persistenti nell'ambiente e nell'uomo, accumulandosi senza decomporsi. Si trovano negli articoli casalinghi , inclusi i materiali anti-macchia e idrorepellenti, anti-aderenti, lucidanti, cere, pitture, pulenti, schiume anti-fuoco, rivestimenti cromati, elettronica, recupero idrocarburi, acqua potabile. Se ingerite, possono causare effetti su riproduzione, sviluppo, fegato, reni e resistenza immunitaria negli animali da laboratorio, ai quali hanno provocato anche #tumori. La principale conseguenza nell'uomo è l'aumento di #colesterolo, seguita da ridotti casi di insufficiente peso dei neonati, incidenza sul sistema immunitario, cancro, disturbi tiroidei. Sebbene la produzione di PFAS negli Stati Uniti sia finita, continua all'estero e perciò questi veleni <possono rientrare -dichiara l'#EPA americana- attraverso le importazioni di: tappeti, #pelle. #abbigliamento, #tessuti, carta, gomma, plastica, rivestimenti, imballaggi.(v. PFAS have been manufactured and used in a variety of industries around the globe since the 1940's. They are very persistent in the environment and in human body so they don't break down and can accumulate over time. PFAS can be found in: household products, including stain-and water- repellent fabrics, non-stick products, polishes, waxes, paints, cleaning products, fire-fighting foams, crome plating, electronics, oil recovery, drinking water, living organisms. If ingested PFAS can cause reproductive and developmental , liver and kidney , and immunological effects in <laboratory animals>. Have also caused tumors in animal studies. The most consistent finding from humans are increased cholesterol with limited finding related to infant birth weights, effects on the immune system, cancer, thyroid hormone disruption.
