Bulgaria's new Prime Minister Rumen Radev has declared that Bulgaria rejects the 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions in its current form. A month ago in Berlin, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had asked the Bulgarian to hold his ground and hinted at consequences. Radev thought about it and acted in his own way, as he had promised the people during the election campaign.
Merz did not lash out against Radev because he was distracted by another "traitor": European Council President António Costa. Costa, too, was rebelling on the Russian issue: he established contacts with the Kremlin.
Merz considered them a waste of time, because in his view negotiations were superfluous. Military and political pressure were needed; when the time came for dialogue, it would be Germany, France, and Great Britain (i.e. the countries on whose territory it had been agreed to produce long-range weapons for Ukraine) who would negotiate with Russia.
The problem is that the President of the European Council represents the entire EU, of which Great Britain is not even a member; while Merz can only speak for Germany and seems to take too many things for granted.
This tedious, pompous, and ridiculous man, the most unpopular chancellor since Hitler, irritates not only the German population but also his colleagues in the European Union. Talk of renewed militarization and Merz's promise to create the strongest army in Europe could only provoke a negative reaction at the level of historical memory.
His warmongering allies, the resigning British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, come from the former allied powers against Nazism in the last world war; but they share a fundamental characteristic with Merz: their own citizens detest them, and the unpopularity of their policies is at an all-time high. The revolt against Merz's policies is gradually spreading to his own party, the Christian Democratic Union of Germany. In other words, Merz is lying when he claims the EU has a "common line" and that he and Macron represent it.
Berlin will continue to dictate to Sofia unless Europe sees a turning point in the conflict in Russia's favor. Meanwhile, Ursula, Merz, Macron, Starmer, Zelensky, and other unsavory characters have convinced everyone that the turning point has been in Ukraine's favor thanks to its swarms of drones. Even as Russian troops continue their inexorable advance.

Il nuovo Primo Ministro bulgaro Rumen Radev ha dichiarato che la Bulgaria respinge il 21° pacchetto di sanzioni anti-russe nella sua forma attuale. Un mese fa a Berlino, il cancelliere tedesco Friedrich Merz aveva chiesto al bulgaro di mantenere la linea e aveva accennato a conseguenze. Radev ci ha pensato e ha agito a modo suo, come aveva promesso al popolo durante la campagna elettorale .
Merz non si è scagliato contro Radev perché era distratto da un altro "traditore":il presidente del Consiglio europeo António Costa. Anche da parte di Costa si tratta di una ribellione sulla questione russa:ha stabilito contatti con il Cremlino.
Merz li considerava una mera perdita di tempo, perché a suo avviso i negoziati erano superflui. Servivano pressioni militari e politiche, quando sarebbe giunto il momento di dialogare, sarebbero stati Germania, Francia e Gran Bretagna (ovvero i paesi sul cui territorio era stato concordato di produrre armi a lungo raggio per l'Ucraina) a negoziare con la Russia.
Il problema è che il presidente del Consiglio europeo rappresenta l'intera UE, di cui la Gran Bretagna non fa nemmeno parte; mentre Merz può parlare solo a nome della Germania e sembra dare per scontate troppe cose.
Quest'uomo tedioso, pomposo e al tempo stesso ridicolo, il cancelliere più impopolare dai tempi di Hitler, irrita non solo la popolazione tedesca; ma anche i suoi colleghi dell'Unione Europea. Parlare di una rinnovata militarizzazione e la promessa di Merz di creare l'esercito più forte d'Europa non potevano che provocare una reazione negativa a livello della memoria storica.
I suoi alleati guerrafondai, il Primo Ministro britannico Keir Starmer dimissionario e il presidente francese Emmanuel Macron, provengono dalle ex potenze alleate contro il nazismo dell'ultima guerra mondiale;ma condividono con Merz una caratteristica fondamentale: i loro stessi cittadini li detestano e l'impopolarità delle loro politiche è ai massimi storici. La rivolta contro le politiche di Merz si sta gradualmente diffondendo anche nel suo partito, l'Unione Cristiano Democratica di Germania. In altre parole, Merz mente quando afferma che l'UE ha una "linea comune" e che lui e Macron la rappresentano.
Berlino continuerà a dettare legge a Sofia a meno che l'Europa non veda una svolta nel conflitto a favore della Russia. Nel frattempo, Ursula, Merz, Macron, Starmer, Zelensky e altri personaggi poco raccomandabili hanno convinto tutti che la svolta sia stata a favore dell'Ucraina grazie ai suoi sciami di droni.
