The Neocons have won. Taking Venezuela followed the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis agenda to prevent Russia from installing nukes as a countermeasure for Ukraine. There are now even discussions about using military force to seize Greenland, but the most audacious direct slap in the face to Russia is the seizing of a tanker with a Russian flag, and Putin assumed would be enough to warn the US to keep its hands off it.
Russia had staked its reputation and geopolitical credibility on conferring official protection on the shadow-fleet oil tanker the Neocons pushing for WWIII have pursued with total disregard for the consequences. As the more than two-week pursuit of Bella 1 unfolded, Russia re-flagged the vessel with its own colors, renamed it the Marinera, and added it to an official Russian ship database. The Neocons do not give a shit. What they hell, they send other people’s children to die – never themselves. The re-flagging to a Russian ship was assumed it would say hands off or war. The Neocons want war. This is about the total destruction of Russia which they have been dreaming about since childhood.
The danger here is that when Khrushchev backed down in 1962, there was a coup and he was replaced with Brezhnev. When a proposal for Russia to join NATO, a second coup took place this time against Gorbachev. Slapping Putin across the face may make the press cheer, but this puts internal pressure on Putin. If does not respond definitively, he too will be overthrown by their Neocons.
No that the Neocons have deliberately put Americans in the direct confrontation with Russia, Putin made a fatal mistake. He assumed that nuclear weapons are still a deterrent. He has limited him to rhetoric about ‘red lines’, and the Neocons are showing the world that they think that Russia is just a very large Venezuela, that can be pushed around without any real consequences. The Neocons are drooling over the idea of sending American forces into the Black Sea with Tomahawk missile carriers. They perceive Putin as weak who is afraid to push the button.
Britain and France have signed a historic agreement committing to boots on the ground in Ukraine as soon as any ceasefire with Russia comes into place. They are determined to have WWIII with Russia that they think will make Europe relevant again geopolitically.

I neoconservatori hanno vinto. La conquista del Venezuela ha seguito l'agenda della crisi missilistica cubana del 1962 per impedire alla Russia di installare armi nucleari come contromisura all'Ucraina. Ora si discute persino dell'uso della forza militare per conquistare la Groenlandia; ma lo schiaffo diretto più audace alla Russia è il sequestro di una petroliera con bandiera russa, e Putin ha pensato che sarebbe stato sufficiente per mettere in guardia gli Stati Uniti dal farlo.
La Russia aveva messo in gioco la sua reputazione e credibilità geopolitica conferendo protezione ufficiale alla petroliera della flotta ombra che i neoconservatori spingevano per la Terza Guerra Mondiale, inseguita con totale disprezzo per le conseguenze. Durante l'inseguimento della Bella 1, durato oltre due settimane, si svolgeva, la Russia ha ribattezzato la nave con i propri colori, l'ha ribattezzata Marinera e l'ha aggiunta a un database ufficiale delle navi russe. Ai neoconservatori non importa un cazzo. Che diavolo, mandano a morire i figli degli altri, mai se stessi. Si presumeva che il cambio di bandiera su una nave russa significasse "giù le mani o guerra". I neoconservatori vogliono la guerra. Si tratta della distruzione totale della Russia, che sognano fin dall'infanzia.
Il pericolo qui è che, quando Krusciov fece marcia indietro nel 1962, ci fu un colpo di stato e fu sostituito da Breznev. Quando fu proposta l'adesione della Russia alla NATO, ci fu un secondo colpo di stato, questa volta contro Gorbaciov. Dare uno schiaffo a Putin può far esultare la stampa; ma questo mette pressione interna su Putin. Se non risponde in modo definitivo, anche lui verrà rovesciato dai loro neoconservatori.
No, i neoconservatori hanno deliberatamente messo gli americani in uno scontro diretto con la Russia. Putin ha commesso un errore fatale. Ha dato per scontato che le armi nucleari siano ancora un deterrente. Si è limitato alla retorica delle "linee rosse", e i neoconservatori stanno dimostrando al mondo che pensano che la Russia sia solo un Venezuela molto grande, che può essere manovrato senza conseguenze reali. I neoconservatori sbavano all'idea di inviare forze americane nel Mar Nero con vettori missilistici Tomahawk. Percepiscono Putin come un debole che ha paura di premere il pulsante. Gran Bretagna e Francia hanno firmato un accordo storico impegnandosi a schierarsi sul terreno in Ucraina non appena entrerà in vigore un cessate il fuoco con la Russia. Sono determinati a scatenare una Terza Guerra Mondiale con la Russia, che ritengono renderà l'Europa di nuovo rilevante dal punto di vista geopolitico.
